THE SCIENCE OF TENTING

FROM WIND RATING TO REACTION LOAD

Before a tent is pitched, its safety is determined by physics. We plan for the forces no one else mentions: the dynamic stresses that challenge every connection point and foundation anchor. This is our promise for every structure.

The Vertical Pull

Uplift

The Vertical Pull

Uplift (updraft) is the condition when air movement shifts perpendicular to the ground, directed up away from the ground. This vertical force attempts to pull the structure directly out of the ground. Our inventory is curated to resist this force with maximum foundation resistance.

The Lateral Push

Shear

The Lateral Push

Shear (wind shear) is an abrupt change in wind speed and/or direction over a short distance. This lateral force attempts to collapse or slide the structure off its foundation. Beam depth and frame connections become critical here.

THE RESULT: REACTION LOADS

Every structural decision we make is calculated to manage the resulting Reaction Loads—the total tension and compression forces transferred to the ground. Our subrental partners trust us because we provide the clear data needed to ensure a 100% safe anchor plan.

OUR APPLES-TO-APPLES TENT BEAM COMPARISON

AAble Rents was the first commercial tent rental company in the world to specify the largest, most robust tent beams available for ALL beam lengths for its Clearspan structures. Rather than settling on more economical beams for shorter spans, AAble Rents insists upon using the industry-renowned 220 Profile Röder® Event Series beam for every Clearspan application.

STAKING LOAD COMPARISON

WHEN THE GROUND IS NOT YOUR PARTNER

Soil/ground consistency determines the number of stakes required to achieve minimum holding power. Hard, dense ground consistency, such as asphalt or heavy clay, produces significantly more load resistance per stake than loose, sandy soils.

Professional Anchoring System in Practice

Our engineered anchoring systems utilize multiple anchor points distributed across the structure's footprint, creating a redundant safety network. Each anchor is precisely positioned to counteract the calculated reaction loads specific to your event's location and expected weather conditions.

Critical Safety Warning

Concrete and other non-stakable surfaces pose significant challenges for commercial tenting installations.

The Water Drum Myth:

Some companies will opt to use 55 gallon water drums to attempt to achieve load resistance. AAble Rents does not condone this practice because water drums are insufficient at reliably maintaining load resistance due to their low coefficient of friction. Although water barrels are heavy, they slide rather easily on hard surfaces such as concrete.

AAble Rents Solution:

We utilize engineered Concrete Ballasting Systems that are purpose-built to provide the required friction and mass to reliably counteract the calculated Reaction Loads on hard surfaces.

WE'VE THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. NOW, ALL YOU HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IS THE EVENT.

This meticulous attention to structural science is why the most discerning clients and professional subrental partners choose AAble Rents. We eliminate structural uncertainty, allowing you to focus on delivering a flawless experience. Your reputation is built on reliability; our inventory is built on uncompromising engineering.

When it comes to the strength and integrity of engineered structures, size does matter.
